Georgina Campbell is a contemporary abstract expressionist artist.

Her methodology is discovered through drawing and painting in pencil, charcoal and synthetic polymer on cotton, linen and wooden board.  Exploring neuroplasticity and the rewiring of neural pathways, Campbell translates emotion through abstraction and quivered lines of imperfection.  Each gestural mark serving as a visual language and metaphor for evolving one’s human conditioning and the philosophical implications of the psyche.

‘Through the theory of spiritual psychology and epistemological frameworks, my research engages with releasing emotion and thought that is no longer serving me.  An autobiographical narrative through the healing agency of the line and gestural mark making within contemporary abstract expressionism.  My art practice began to escape a troubled mind, a nuanced idiosyncratic process to release emotion. What began with poetry and drawing has developed into a drawing and painting practice that is more like a form of survival.  One that offers an opportunity to rewire neural pathways and thought processes that are no longer serving me.  It is not a conduit to mask emotion, but a push and pull exploration into consciousness’.

After awakening from an unconscious slumber, Campbell draws inspiration from the complexities of one’s vulnerabilities, encapsulating abstractions of the metaphysical spiritual realm of releasing emotion.  A visual diary through the many layers of one's soul, and the unique realms of the artist's personal discoveries on human conditioning and its impact on the mind and spiritual connection to self.

'My work is a plethora of awakenings into rewiring neural pathways through gestural mark making and exploring the line. May we all rediscover peace within the chaos at its fundamental core and tap into the collective consciousness of The World's Soul, pure consciousness'.

Georgina Campbell is an Australian artist from Melbourne/Naarm, currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) at RMIT University in her third year and is a mental health advocate.
